About ANIA

The American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) emerged from the merger of two pioneering organizations: CARING (Capital Area Roundtable on Informatics in Nursing), founded in 1982 to advance automated healthcare information systems, and ANIA (American Nursing Informatics Association), established in 1992 in Southern California to support nurses in informatics. This merger began in 2005 and was officially completed in 2010, uniting both organizations under the name ANIA.

Today, ANIA proudly represents approximately 3,000 members, including nurses and healthcare professionals in various informatics roles. Our membership is diverse, welcoming both individual and corporate members committed to the advancement of nursing informatics.

Our Mission

At ANIA, we are dedicated to empowering our members through education, networking, and professional development. Our goal is to equip our members with the skills and knowledge needed to lead in the design, implementation, and management of healthcare information systems. By doing so, we enhance patient care, improve healthcare quality, and shape the future of healthcare informatics.

Why ANIA?

ANIA is a key influence in advancing the role of informatics in nursing, continually driving innovation and excellence in the field. Join us as we continue to lead and shape the future of nursing informatics.
